Getting Started with SilentChat
SilentChat is a live-chat and customer-messaging platform built for modern teams. This guide walks you through getting up and running in under five minutes.
1. Create an Account
Head to the SilentChat dashboard and register for a new account. You will receive a verification email — click the link to activate your account and log in.
- Navigate to the Register page.
- Fill in your name, email, and password.
- Check your inbox and verify your email address.
- Log in to access the dashboard.
2. Create a Widget
Once you are logged in, create a chat widget that will be embedded on your website.
- Go to Widgets in the sidebar navigation.
- Click Create Widget.
- Give your widget a name (e.g. “Main Website”) and configure its appearance — colors, position, welcome message, etc.
- Save the widget. You will be given a public key that identifies it.
3. Install the Widget
Copy the snippet below and paste it into the <body> of every page where you want the chat widget to appear. Replace YOUR_PUBLIC_KEY with the key from step 2.
<script
src="https://cdn.silentchat.de/silentchat.min.js"
data-widget-key="YOUR_PUBLIC_KEY"
async
></script>For framework-specific installation instructions (React, Vue, WordPress, Shopify, and more) see the Widget Installation guide.
4. Start Chatting
That’s it! Once the snippet is on your site, visitors will see the chat bubble in the corner of the page. When they send a message it appears in your SilentChat dashboard in real time.
- Conversations are listed under the Conversations tab.
- Use Canned Responses to reply quickly to common questions.
- Assign conversations to team members or use routing rules.
- View visitor and contact profiles to get context before replying.
